This piece comes from the personal collection of our owner and founder, a ballboy for the Eels from 1979 to 1981. The jersey was gifted to him on the evening of the 1981 Grand Final, the first Premiership for the Eels, as a token of thanks for service.
The jersey was worn during the 1981 season by Parramatta fullback Steve McKenzie, a key contributor to "the witch is dead" inaugural victory (Parra wore yellow in the Grand Final so as not to clash with the blue of Newtown).
A precious momento but times to give it a new home. No similar jerseys have come to market in our experience. The jersey can be viewed in the photo in the "Our Story" part of this website. Unfortunately, despite being signed by all of the players, the coach and legends such as Artie Beetson, these all "washed off" when my mum washed it!
